Yes, your ETA can be extended up to six months.

You can apply for ETA extensions at the Immigration Services Centre or at the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Colombo.

No, but the process will take time and the authorities do not encourage applying on arrival. You can apply for a visa on arrival provided you can provide the following

Your passport should be valid for no less than 6 months from the date of arrival.

  1. A confirmed return air ticket.
  2. Proof of funds to meet expenses during your stay.

You can make the payment using American Express, Master and Visa cards, and if cash only US Dollars are accepted.
