Day 1: Hikkaduwa
Hikkaduwa is one of the hottest tourist destinations in the country, known internationally for its golden beach that stretches for miles, eye-popping corals and the amazing nightlife. It is also one of the better-known surfing spots along the coastal belt of Sri Lanka.
Arrive in Hikkaduwa town first thing in the morning and relax, and spend some time exploring the area and the beach. You may have lunch either at the hotel or at a restaurant outside.
Take a dip in the sea, or try snorkeling or surfing or maybe even take a boat ride if you feel like it.
Dinner at the hotel or outside. Overnight stay in Hikkaduwa.
Day 2: Hikkaduwa
Quick breakfast at the hotel followed by a short drive to Galle.
First stop: Galle Fort. Built by the Portugese in 1588 and later heavily fortified by Dutch colonists from 1649 onwards, the Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its colourful history, artifacts of a bygone era and the multi-ethnic and multi-religious population residing within its walls.
Lunch can be had at a preferred restaurant anywhere in the Galle City or within the Fort itself.
Next we stop at Unawtuna Bay, yet another beach famous for its beauty and colourful fish and corals. Ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving, Unawatuna is the perfect place to spend an evening chilling by the beach.
Dinner at the hotel or outside. Overnight stay in Hikkaduwa.
Plan your visit between December and March; you will be rewarded with an amazing opportunity for whale-watching in the seas off Mirrisa. Sighting the Blue Whale, Sperm Whale and playful Spinner Dolphin along side, the occasional Manta-Ray will take your breath away. In these peak periods, chances of sightings are as high as 95%.
Day 3: Tissamaharama
After breakfast, drive to Tissahamarama, now a small town in the deep south which was once a regional capital of ancient Lanka, dating back to the 3rd century BC.
You can chill by the beach for as long as you like, as there is little else to do in Tissamaharama. However, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the island, and you won’t regret it.
Lunch can be had at the hotel or at a restaurant outside.
Enjoy the rest of your evening at the hotel where you may have your dinner later in the night, or head out for a meal elsewhere.
Overnight stay will be in Tissamaharama.
Day 4: Tissamaharama

Among the attractions here are a picture-perfect beach that stretches for miles, a turtle hatchery (your kids are going to love it) and mangroves and, of course, beautiful, drop-dead gorgeous sunsets.
On the way stop at Ambalangoda to see how the traditional wooden masks are made
